Transforming an overgrown garden into an exciting space for the whole family to enjoy

Transforming an overgrown garden into an exciting space for the whole family to enjoy

The garden of this Remuera villa had plenty of potential but overgrown plants and a large hump were taking up most of the space. Zones Landscaping Consultant Kate Ryan was tasked with creating a spacious and modern outdoor living area that both children and adults could enjoy.

Removing the overgrowth has opened up stunning views and leveling off the lawn has created plenty of room for children to play. The sleek, modern Kwila decking provides the perfect place to entertain, while a louvre with automatic rain sensor means the garden can be enjoyed in all weather.

Creating a Stylish Garden Fit for a Contemporary Orakei Home

Creating a Stylish Garden Fit for a Contemporary Orakei Home

These Orakei homeowners knew precisely what they wanted – to turn their steep, inaccessible garden into something worth maintaining in Auckland’s dry weather conditions. The catch: it needed to be completed over winter before they holidayed abroad.

Zones Landscaping met their expectations, solving the complex problems of landscaping on a slope and installing an effective irrigation system, bringing in specialists where needed. Even with an unexpected lockdown, the project was completed on time.

Landscaping Consultant Kate Ryan shared the homeowners’ eye for design and devised unique solutions for their landscape, including curved corten steel retaining that perfectly matched their home’s modern architecture.

A Full Home Renovation Aimed at Stylish Accessibility

A Full Home Renovation Aimed at Stylish Accessibility

It was evident that this 1930s bungalow needed a complete overhaul. The homeowner’s daughter lives a fully independent life in a wheelchair, and since homes aren’t typically built with differently-abled people in mind, she wanted this renovation to create a home that wouldn’t impede her daily life but instead cater to it.

Bungalows built in the 1930s began to incorporate rooms that were more spacious than their predecessors, but they were also adopters of partitioned living areas, which is less than ideal to navigate in a wheelchair. For professional guidance with her renovation, the homeowner reached out to Refresh to take charge of creating a comfortable home for her daughter to enjoy long-term.
