Hailing from South Africa, Kevin Kevany learnt all about home repairs and renovations early on. After hitting cricket balls through windows several times, his father, Jack, took him under his wing and taught him to repair the damage. “When you are paying for the panes out of your pocket money, you learn to cut them right first time,” he says.
His learning he reckons is ‘experiential’, which he believes is the way to go: get informed, seek advice and then it’s a case of trial-and-error-through-to-bliss. Kevin and his family are hopefully at the end of a leaky home disaster. Unlike many victims who have nowhere to turn to, they were lucky as they were inside the 10-year limit and got support.
