Design of the 20th Century

REVIEWED Gareth Poley

The 20th century saw momentous changes not only in the designs, but also in the design process. With many ideas and anecdotes thrown into the mix, the book lets you discover how commonplace ‘design by individual’ became ‘design by team’ during this time.

The authors have done a good job leaving personal opinions out of the story (which is something we designers struggle with at the best of times!) and have managed to present and illustrate the facts in a pleasing style.
The designers and design schools have been arranged alphabetically, with cross referencing accross the era’s. It’s a must read for all students and lovers of design.

Published by TASCHEN and distributed in New Zealand by New Holland Publishers.
