Converting a Porch into a Formal Sunroom

Converting a Porch into a Formal Sunroom

The owner of this 1880s home approached local Renovation Consultant Wayne Gordon with ideas to convert the underused porch into a sunroom. The most important aspects of this project were to retain the home’s character and create a sundrenched space – both of which have been achieved in this successful renovation.

The porch’s original weatherboard cladding, decorative ceiling, and stained glass window have been integrated with the sunroom’s design. A fresh, neutral colour scheme perfectly complements these idyllic features and matches the adjoining kitchen, ultimately making the sunroom a beautiful extension of the home.

Modernising a 1950s Bathroom in Palmerston North

Modernising a 1950s Bathroom in Palmerston North

To update the dark and dated bathroom in their 1950s bungalow, this homeowner contacted Refresh Renovations. It was the property’s only bathroom, so having poor functionality and a tired design was an issue. Local Renovation Consultant Wayne Gordon came on board to manage the build phase and ensured the homeowner’s plans for a modern interior design were executed with precision.

Wayne’s renovation team removed the existing shower-over-bath, making way for a spacious shower and laundry unit. This upgrade made a significant difference to the room’s atmosphere. However, freshening up the walls with crisp white paint and replacing old fixtures with modern upgrades also played a large part in creating a modern bathroom.

A Modern Transformation for a 1980s Two-Storey Home

To undertake a major renovation of their family home, the owners of this two-storey Torbay property reached out to local Renovation Consultants Ant Bayne & Johannes Jacobs (JJ), who proudly led the project from design to build.

The results are exceptional. A dreamy white colour scheme has entirely brightened up the interiors; paired with a clean, modern redesign, the home has become lavishly airy with practical upgrades to match.

But of all the transformed spaces, it’s the upstairs bathroom that is most impressive. The room’s previously flat ceiling is now pitched and decorated with a Hamptons-style finish. Complete with a custom-built shower and a clawfoot bathtub, there’s no better place to unwind after a long day.
